Move Your Cheese

Be Uncomfortable

“When I enrolled in Maven Secrets, I did not know what I was getting into. I only thought I would learn about blogging, get to know the man behind all those amazing features in Our Awesome Planet and, yes, dabble a little bit in internet marketing. I did not know that it will lead to my re-examination of my life, that it will change my life, transfer me from the confines of my glass penthouse to vibrant, more exciting possibilities. Let this serve as a warning and a warm welcome to those who will follow this unbeaten path.”

The above was my testimony for MavenSecrets when I attended its pilot class more than a year ago.  But its echoes reverberate to the life I know today.

MavenSecrets is an internet marketing program.  But it was also a way out – because like what it did to Anton Diaz, its founder (and to my other classmates), it strengthened my desire to leave the rat race and go after things that I am passionate about – like family and doing the things I could not find the time to do, the more important things that give life its flesh and its color.

Through having multiple passive income streams.

A few months into the training (compounded by reading The 4-Hour Workweek), I knew what I had to do (or what I had to stop doing).

I quit work.

Something like that has never happened to me. I never made rash decisions, looked for stability and thrived in stability (a gift from my parents), would never quit work, looked at self-employment as an unsafe harbor.

I embraced all those uncertainties at that time, put up corporations in partnership with people that I liked, participated in endeavors that I am interested in, engaged in a consultancy which gave me a stable income without the ties that bound, started a blog with nothing but passion and an idea (I was no techie), attended seminars and read inspirational authors during my spare time.   I was braver, bolder, calmer than I had ever been.  And I have never been happier.

But the unpredictable became predictable in time (as it must).  The excitement has waned and my life has more or less settled to a pace resembling normalcy.

But I had seen the color of rainbows and realized other possibilities, for my life, for me, the kind that can thrust one to maven-ness or even to greatness and lead him to a fuller and richer life.

The process, for me, is continuing.  I am still discovering my possibilities.

It can also happen to you.  To join the next batch of MavenSecrets, click here.

It might be the impetus to rock your comfortable world.  It might not.

In any case, you are warned.  (I hope to see you there.)

Be rich,

Issa

P.S.  MavenSecrets is a 90-day program which involves a series of 3-hour face-to-face session trainings with Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet.  It goes beyond traditional “Internet Marketing or Blog Marketing” programs because, in Anton’s words, “it focuses on having the right mindset and aligning you with what you are passionate about.  It teaches the basics to give you a strong foundation and shares advanced strategies you need to become a maven in your chosen niche.  Each week, one “secret” will be discussed covering the concepts behind the secret in detail.  There will also be sessions wherein the group will meet a maven who will share his story, his life’s lessons, and what works in the Philippines.”

The weekly sessions would be held on Wednesdays, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the AIM ACCEED Conference Center beside Asian Institute of Management.

It starts on August 25, 2010.

Please tell Anton I sent you.
