What is your why?

Getting to the why

I attended the 3-day seminar of the Rich Dad Academy in Vancouver and learned a lot. This is what I love about seminars – and why I keep going to them – I get insights and learn new ways – more effective ways – of doing things. In the next few days, I will be sharing them with you and I hope your lives will be enriched too.

Some of us plod along this world not knowing what we are here for. We walk our paths, fall into our usual pattern, surprise ourselves some of the time, and when the excitement dies, wonder why we still have that big hole in our chest. The answer is not within, but without – that is, outside of us.

Who do you live for? What do you live for?

Is it your children or your family? (but please do not have that reason just because every other person says it should be so)

Do you dream of making it big? (does it get you awake nights, to plot, to plan, to see in your mind’s eye how that could be)

Is it money – a lot of money – so you can make a difference in your life and in the world? (have you seen need, have you felt need, do you want to erase it from yourself, your memory, the world)

Is it recognition? Is it acceptance? (what happened in your early life that made this matter in your now)

Some reasons are simple. Some are complicated.

Some have their roots in childhood. Some are due to carefully nursed hurts. Some are because of that one flashing, blinding happiness you felt and cannot forget.

You have to know this – your why. Your strong why. You have to.  Because it will be your beacon, your guidepost. It will spell the difference between you living a humdrum life or a life well-lived. It will spell the difference between you just getting by or attaining success.

Once you know it, it will be the reason why you would wake up everyday. Why your future will no longer get out of focus, why you won’t let the world distract you.

There should be something there.

Something in you.

It could be an earth shattering truth, or something that would just give you peace.

Something that would make you face the world with a smile everyday, and a purpose.

Something that will make it easier to see the opportunities that come your way, and something that will make you give up the distractions (that you would otherwise find painful or inconvenient to do).

It will give you a livelier gait, a secret smile, set you ablaze, let you live a life that is beyond your wildest dreams.

Mine is a plethora of faces and images and memories and feelings. I still have to extract that – the complete picture of Danvic, Chiarra, Rai and something else – which will make me want (and ache) to go the extra extra extra mile.

What is yours?
