You look at the clock.  It screamed 3 a.m. at you.  You screamed a silent scream – one of realization.  Also of disgust.  And elation.  The kind that you get when you are not being you, and it is liberating.

You have become a Plants vs. Zombies addict.

And you have a headache.

You do not know when or how it happened.  You just looked at your iPhone one day and tinkered with the downloading function and bought Plants vs. Zombies for $2.99 along with other games and applications.  You are not a game person yourself.  You use your time wisely.  You know that these kind of games will not do anything for you – will not add a skill, will not improve any of your relationships, will not make you rich.

A Frugal Night and One Sinful Chocolate Cake

I could not fit into my pants.  And I know the culprit.

It is called “The Most Sinful Chocolate Cake”.  And when Connie of HomeCookingRocks.com wrote about it, I knew I had to try to make it for one of my “frugal nights”.

A little backtrack.  I started having “frugal nights” because I was getting frustrated with the restaurant scene where I was paying so much for food.  Especially dessert.

Money and the Games Children Play

I had the sudden urge to know if, at 8, she knows what money is all about.

So I called my daughter, who was busy playing, and asked her: C, what is money?  Eyebrows going up, eyes slightly questioning (as if saying, now where is mom going with this), she says, tongue in cheek, voice bored, “It has a lot of numbers and signs on it.”   Okay (sounds about right).  I made a follow up question: C, do you know how you can make lots of money? Grinning, she answered, her voice lilting and confident, “I can draw it.”

Obviously, I have to teach her about money.  And soon.

Interestingly, when Robert Kiyosaki was 9, he had the same idea.
